Erling Haaland had several opportunities to slot the ball past Adrian san Miguel in goal for Liverpool, but the Norwegian striker’s poor ball controls, overanxiety and poor decision making prevented him from putting the ball in the back of the net.

According to UEFA’s Country Coefficient rankings, the English Premier League is Europe’s toughest league in 2022 and Erling Haaland’s performance against Liverpool yesterday has shown how tough England’s top-flight league is.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City were defeated 3-1 by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the Community Shield at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, 31st of July, 2022, as Jurgen Klopp’s men lifted the Community Shield for the first time in sixteen years and their first silverware of the 2022/2023 football season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and new signing, Darwin Nunez were all on the scoresheet for the Merseyside giants, while Manchester City’s new Argentine striker, Julian Alvarez scored the only goal for the Cityzens.

One of the major highlights from the game between Liverpool and Manchester City at the King Power Stadium, was Manchester City’s new signing, Erling Haaland’s woeful display on his official Manchester City debut.

Prior to joining Manchester City, Erling Haaland was one of the best strikers in the German Bundesliga and his prolificacy was also confirmed in the UEFA Champions League.

But when Erling Haaland came up against an English Premier League team in Liverpool, he was in no man’s land. He was isolated by Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk, as he had only sixteen touches in the entire match, which is a bad statistic for a striker.

Yesterday’s match is an indication that Erling Haaland will most likely take time to adapt to the toughness and fast-paced nature of the English Premier League.
