2023: Bishop Mathew Kukah Finally States His Position On The Muslim-Muslim APC Ticket

Following the official notification of the former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima Mustapha, as APC’s vice presidential candidate for the 2023 presidency, some clergymen have come out to disassociate themselves from the same-faith ticket. However, as the presidential election draws closer, some clergymen in the country who were silent about the same-faith ticket have finally stated their positions.

In this light, Reverend Mathew Kukah, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, in a recent report published by Arise News, has stated that Nigeria does not require a Messiah in 2023, for the country to move forward. According to him, true governance can be gotten when true leaders emerge. Hence, the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket shouldn’t be an issue.

The Bishop disclosed this in Abuja at a gathering on political communication and issue-based campaigning in the forthcoming general election. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House of Representatives and Ahmed Lawan, President of the Senate, were both present at the event.
