Following the death of Claret Opara Bassey, the lady who died in a car crash while chasing her husband and his alleged secret lover in Calabar, Cross River State, more details have emerged on how she died.
According to the report which was made by The Nation, Claret had been married to Mr Sunday Bassey for over ten years. So last Sunday, she reportedly received a call from her friend that her husband had been seen with an alleged secret lover at a shopping mall.
Upon receiving the call, the lady immediately took one of the cars at home and drove to the scene. When she got there, her husband was driving out of the premises with the alleged lover. So when he saw the wife, he sped off, and the wife went after them.
It was reported that Claret was about to make a U-turn after the husband tried to branch off from the highway into an adjoining street, and from there she lost control and rammed into a tree.
The car was badly damaged and Claret was seriously injured. When her husband saw the incident from the car mirror, he turned around immediately to go and meet her.
An eyewitness said that the husband was apologizing to the wife when he came and met her in the pool of her blood.
The eyewitness said – “He was apologetic before the dying wife and pleaded that she should not die. He rushed the wife to Navy hospital in Calabar where she was reportedly confirmed dead.”
