Police Disperse Peter Obi's Supporters With Teargas, Arrest Five Persons In Ebonyi State

The Ebonyi State Police Command has dispersed the supporters of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, with teargas in Abakaliki, the capital city of the state. 

According to The PUNCH, five of the supporters have also been arrested by the police. 

The incident happened on Saturday, September 17, 2022, when the supporters gathered for a one-million-march for the presidential candidate. 

The police dispersed the supporters, numbering about 1,000, with teargas and arrested others. 

The incident caused both human and vehicular traffic on the popular Old Enugu Road, in the capital city, on Saturday morning.

One of the supporters, Steve Ugama, said that aside from dispersing and tear-gassing the supporters, about five of their colleagues have been arrested by the police.

The reason why the police dispersed the supporters hasn’t been revealed to the public at the time of this report. 

The supporters of the presidential candidate have held rallies in different cities across the country in recent times.
