The World May Take Us Seriously If Buhari Didn't Travel To USA And Osinbajo To UK - NEF Spokesman

The spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum, Dr Hakeem Baba Ahmed in a tweet on his official Twitter account several hours ago, described Nigeria as a distressed nation, lacking in respect from people from different countries of the world. He said this while reacting to President Muhammadu Buhari and Professor Yemi Osinbajo’s visit to the United States and United Kingdom respectively.

Recall that President Buhari had jetted out of the country on Monday, to attend the United Nations General Assembly whereas his vice, Osinbajo travelled to attend Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.

The NEF spokesman in decrying our leaders’ decision to leave the country even in the face of the troubling problems Nigeria is faced with, averred that Nigeria should be the utmost concern as opposed to international events.

In his words, Dr Hakeem said: “President went to US to attend UNGA. VP travelled to UK for queen’s funeral. No one would have missed them if they do not attend. The world may even respect our leaders if they do not leave a distressed nation at the same time. And we want the world to take us more seriously.”
