Explosion Rocks Taraba

A loud explosion was again heard in the ATC area of Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State Sunday night.

The state police command through its Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Usman Abdullahi, has confirmed the explosion.

Though the police could not give detailed reports of the explosion, the PPRO, however, promised to get back to our correspondent as soon as further information was made available to the command by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the area.

Some persons from the area who also confirmed the explosion to our correspondent, said the incident occurred at a drinking joint.

Over 100 killed in South-East Weekly — ADC

The South-East Zonal chapter of the African Democratic Congress has carpeted the All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party for their alleged inability to end the rising security challenges in the zone.

The National Vice Chairman of the party in the zone, M.r Chilos Godsent, remarked on Saturday while briefing newsmen at the end of the party’s Zonal Working Committee’s bi-monthly meeting held in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.

The statement was titled, ‘2023 General Elections: ADC must take over South-East in a landslide to restore development, peace, and security in the region.

Godsent, according to the News Agency of Nigeria, said it was unfortunate that insecurity and poverty had continued to escalate under the watch of the two leading political parties sharing power at the center, states, and local government areas.

19 Killed in FCT Auto Crash — Official

Nineteen persons have been confirmed killed while eight others were injured in a Sunday auto crash at Yangoji-Gwagwalada Road in the FCT.

Dauda Biu, Acting Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the figures to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) when he visited the accident scene.

Mr. Biu said the crash which occurred on Sunday involved three vehicles – two Toyota Hiace buses with registration numbers MUB- 30 LG and DWR-985 XJ and an articulated vehicle.

Mr. Biu said 31 persons were involved in the accident comprising 11 males, one female, and 19 others who were charred beyond recognition.

Imo now witnessing peace, and order says Uzodimma

The Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodimma, on Sunday said that the state was now witnessing peace and orderliness.

The governor who spoke at the Government House Chapel while thanking the people of the state for coming out in en mass to receive the president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) last Tuesday noted that his administration was working for the good of the state.

A statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Oguwike Nwachukwu, quoted the governor to had said, “Agents of Satan tried to frustrate Buhari’s visit to the state but failed.”
