Two men who dragged rifle with policemen in Lagos have other cases to answer, says Police PRO

Two young men who were seen in a viral video fighting policemen and dragging the rifle of of the policemen and who were eventually arrested and detained by men of the Lagos State Police Command have been found to have other cases to answer.

The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed this in his Twitter handle on Tuesday, added that preliminary investigation carried out on the two young men revealed that they were involved in some nefarious activities before thy dragged the gun with a policeman.

The social media was awash last Friday when a video of two young men surfaced where they were dragging a rifle with a member of a police team from the Meiran Division of the state police command after one of them accused the policeman of seizing his phone.

They were eventually arrested and taken to the Meiran Police Station while the PRO disclosed that they would be charged to court on Monday for their behavious towards policemen.

However, on Monday, the policemen did not charge them to court, with many people wondering why they were kept in custody and not charged to court despite the statement by the PRO.

However, Hundeyin disclosed on Tuesday on his Twitter handle that the two men were not charged to court on Monday because preliminary investigation showed that they were involved in some previous nefarious activities and policemen were carrying out further investigation about them.

He added that they would be arraigned in court with more charges after the policemen conclude their investigation on their past activities.

According to the PRO: “Preliminary investigations revealed other nefarious activities these men are involved in. This necessitated further investigations. This also explains why they are yet to be arraigned. They will be arraigned with an updated count charge once investigations are concluded.”
